Sitka v1.3 out now! [Changelog] [How to update]

Add hyperlink text menu to footer

If you'd like to insert a simple horizontal text menu into your footer area, it's simple to do with some basic HTML and CSS!

Our blog themes will always have at least one text area in the footer of the theme. Generally, these are used to insert copyright text, though can also be used for any sort of notification or message you'd like. You can use this text box to insert a simple horizontal text menu.

Navigate to WP Dashboard > Appearance > Customize > Footer Settings > and locate your Footer's text area. There may be more than one.

In this example, I'll be using the Alder theme's copyright text field called "Footer Text Left".

To the RIGHT of the copyright text that is already there (if you still wish to keep the copyright text),  paste in this code:

<div id="footer-menu">
<li><a href="LINK-URL">Menu Item 1</a></li>
<li><a href="LINK-URL">Menu Item 2</a></li>
<li><a href="LINK-URL">Menu Item 3</a></li>
<li><a href="LINK-URL">Menu Item 4</a></li>

In the above code, be sure to replace the "LINK-URL" dummy text with the URL you want link to direct to. Save changes when finished.

Lastly, navigate to WP Dashboard > Appearance > Customize > Custom CSS > and insert this code:

#footer-menu {
display: block;
margin-top: 15px;
#footer-menu ul li {
display: inline-block;
margin-right: 15px;

Be sure to save changes when finished.
