Sitka v1.3 out now! [Changelog] [How to update]

Add simple hyperlink text menu to Oleander's footer

If you'd like to insert a simple horizontal text menu into your footer's copyright text area, it's simple to do with some basic HTML and CSS! This can be perfect for adding a "disclaimer" or "privacy policy" link.

Our blog themes will always have at least one text area in the footer of the theme. Generally, these are used to insert copyright text, though can also be used for any sort of notification or message you'd like. You can use this text box to insert a simple horizontal text menu.

Navigate to WP Dashboard > Appearance > Customize > Footer Settings > Footer Copyright Text.

You may already have some copyright text in this "Footer Copyright Text" field and that's totally ok.

To the RIGHT of the copyright text that is already there,  paste in this code:

<div id="footer-menu">
<li><a href="LINK-URL">Menu Item 1</a></li>
<li><a href="LINK-URL">Menu Item 2</a></li>
<li><a href="LINK-URL">Menu Item 3</a></li>

In the above code, be sure to replace the "LINK-URL" dummy text with the URL you want link to direct to. Change the "Menu Item 1" text next to it to whatever you want your link titled.

For example, if you're planning on having  "Privacy Policy" and "Disclaimer" links, yours would look something like this:

<ul id="footer-menu">
<li><a href="">Privacy Policy</a></li>
<li><a href="">Disclaimer</a></li>

Save changes when finished.

Lastly, navigate to WP Dashboard > Appearance > Customize > Custom CSS > and insert this code:

#footer-menu {display: inline-block;}
#footer-menu li {
display: inline-block;
margin-right: 10px;
font-size: 12px;
line-height: 24px;
#footer-copyright p {margin-right: 25px;}

Be sure to save changes when finished.
